MLB has published its 2027 spring training schedule: all thirty clubs open on Friday 19 February 2027, and the regular season begins with an Opening Night game on Wednesday 24 March. Between those two dates sits a novelty worth planning around — a run of exhibition games played in big-league ballparks rather than spring complexes, including a three-game Freeway Series between the Dodgers and the Angels in Southern California.
One caveat up front, and it matters: the current collective bargaining agreement expires on 1 December 2026, and owners have pushed for a salary cap. The schedule below is what MLB has published; a work stoppage could move any of it. Everything here is dated as announced.
The dates MLB has confirmed
| Date | What happens |
|---|---|
| Fri 19 Feb 2027 | Spring training opens — all 30 clubs in action, Cactus League (Arizona) and Grapefruit League (Florida) |
| Sat 20 – Tue 23 Mar | Exhibition games at Major and Minor League ballparks |
| Wed 24 Mar 2027 | Opening Night, on Netflix — one game, matchup to be determined |
| Thu 25 Mar 2027 | Opening Day — a slate of 14 games; NBC begins its coverage with a primetime game |
The 19 February start is the sort of detail that only matters if you have tried to book a flight to Glendale or Sarasota: every club plays on day one, so there is no staggered opening to exploit. Thirty clubs, thirty games, one day.
The exhibition games worth knowing about
The March 20–23 window is the interesting one. Rather than finishing spring at the training complexes, several clubs decamp to their real ballparks for a final warm-up:
- Dodgers v Angels, three games: Dodger Stadium on Sunday 21 March, then Angel Stadium on 22 and 23 March.
- Blue Jays at Rays, Tropicana Field: Sunday 20 March.
- Tigers at Rays, Tropicana Field: 21 and 23 March.
- Giants at the Triple-A Sacramento River Cats, Sutter Health Park: 21 March — a preview of the ballpark the Athletics are using until their move to Las Vegas.
- Orioles v Nationals: Camden Yards on 21 March, Nationals Park on 22 March.
- Giants v Red Sox, Oracle Park: 22 and 23 March.
- Astros v the Triple-A Sugar Land Space Cowboys, Daikin Park: 22 and 23 March.
MLB has said more games will be added. For a supporter in Europe the practical value is limited — these are exhibition games with no standings impact — but they are the first real baseball of the year in a real stadium, and they are the point in the calendar when the new-season shirts start appearing in the stands.
Where the Dodgers stand
Los Angeles go into 2027 as back-to-back champions, having won the 2024 and 2025 World Series. The 2025 title came in Game 7 in Toronto: 5–4 in eleven innings, with Will Smith's home run in the top of the eleventh breaking the tie after Miguel Rojas had levelled it in the ninth. Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who won three games in that series including the deciding one, took the MVP.
A third straight title would be the first by a National League club. That is the story the 2027 season opens on, and it is why the Dodgers shirts are the ones that sell out first in a spring.
What a baseball shirt is, and why the sizing is unusual
Baseball shirts are the odd one out in the shop. They are button-front, cut full through the body, and designed to hang straight rather than follow the chest. They are also the only category where the shirt is meant to be worn open over something else as a matter of course, not as a workaround.
That makes them forgiving. If you are between sizes on a baseball shirt, the smaller one is usually fine — the garment is supposed to have air in it. The size guide carries the men's, women's and youth columns separately, and the women's column is cut differently again, so use the right one.
What is in stock right now
- Dodgers home replica, custom, white — €76.99. The defending champions' home look, with your own name on it.
- Anthony Volpe, Yankees home replica — €76.99. A named player build in the standard home cut.
- Yankees home replica, custom, white — €76.99. The pinstripe alternative with your own name.
- Cubs home replica, custom, white — €76.99.
- Mariners home replica, custom, white — €76.99.
- Mets home replica, custom, white — €76.99.
Every one of the baseball shirts in stock is a home replica in white at the same price, which makes the decision simpler than it looks: pick the club, then decide whether you want a name on the back.
That uniformity is also the reason to buy early in a spring. When a new season shirt lands it lands in home white first, and the road greys and alternates follow weeks later — if you want the shirt for Opening Day rather than for June, white is both the choice you would have made anyway and the only one that will be there in time.
Where to start
The MLB collection and the MLB jersey collection are the two broad views of the baseball range; the Los Angeles Dodgers collection is where the defending champions sit.

Frequently asked questions
When does 2027 spring training start?
Friday 19 February 2027, with all thirty clubs playing on opening day across the Cactus League in Arizona and the Grapefruit League in Florida.
When is Opening Day 2027?
Opening Night is Wednesday 24 March 2027 with a single game on Netflix, followed by the traditional Opening Day on Thursday 25 March with a slate of 14 games.
Could there be a lockout?
It is a real possibility. The collective bargaining agreement expires on 1 December 2026, and a failure to agree could lead to a work stoppage as it did from December 2021 to March 2022. The dates above are what MLB has published.
Who are the defending World Series champions?
The Los Angeles Dodgers, who won the 2024 and 2025 World Series. The 2025 title came in Game 7 in Toronto, 5–4 in eleven innings.
Do baseball jerseys run large?
They are cut full and hang straight, which is the point — they are meant to be worn open over another shirt. If you are between sizes, the smaller one is usually the better call.
