Notre Dame Fighting Irish Jerseys
Thirteen claimed national titles, a stadium with its own nickname, and the most recognisable independent programme in college football.

The short version
The University of Notre Dame was founded in 1842, and its football programme grew into one of the most followed in the sport. Notre Dame Stadium opened in 1930 and remains the programme's home, notable for having no permanent sponsor on its playing surface.
The programme claims thirteen national titles, the most recent for the 1988 season — a gap that now spans more than three decades and is one of the longest among historic powers. Notre Dame has also produced more NFL draft picks than any other programme, and ranks first all-time in consensus All-Americans.

What they have won
Every number here comes straight from the record books, with the years that made it happen.
Navy and gold, and independence as a design constraint
Notre Dame has no conference, which sounds like a scheduling detail and is in practice a branding one — the club is built to be recognised nationally rather than regionally.
Navy and gold are the fixed pairing, with white used for alternate looks. What changes between editions is trim placement and the exact gold rather than the palette, which is normal for a programme whose identity has not moved in decades. The more interesting point is the consequence of independence: with no conference to supply a shared colour scheme or a regional rival to trade colours with, the club's look had to carry the whole national following on its own. That is why the golden helmet is such a load-bearing part of the design and why the navy base is used so consistently — the shirt has to be identifiable in a stadium in any state, not just in its own conference footprint.
The number culture is built on two things: a small set of genuinely retired numbers, and a famous 1988 season whose quarterback wore #11 in the club's most recent championship. That title is now more than three decades old and the programme has not won since, so the vintage end of the range is unusually important relative to the range's size. The other half of the story is production: Notre Dame has produced more NFL draft picks than any other programme, and a version of a historic number is often what a fan recognises first. The range itself is narrower than most programmes we carry — youth and college-edition adult pieces account for nearly all of it.
The story so far
The 2025 season produced a 10-2 record and a tenth-place finish in the final AP poll, with the programme ending up outside the 12-team playoff field despite its ranking.
We list 150 Notre Dame items. Youth and college-edition adult pieces account for almost the entire range — narrower than most programmes we carry, but that spread is what the listings actually show. Sizes and who they are for
How the cuts fit in practice, and what to do when you are on the boundary.
Most listings run true to size with an athletic cut. If you wear a medium tee, a medium jersey is the usual call.
Size up for a looser match-day fit, or stay down for a closer cut under a hoodie.
Both are carried in selected editions and sized on their own charts — the listing page shows the break.
Care guide
Five minutes of care keeps a printed or stitched shirt looking new for years. These are the steps that actually matter — the rest is optional.
| Step | What to do | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| 1 · Wash | Turn the shirt inside out and wash cold, on a normal or gentle cycle, with a mild detergent. Wash it with other darks. | Heat and detergent are what break down screen-printed ink and loosen heat-bonded numbers. Inside-out protects the graphic from abrasion. |
| 2 · No bleach, no softener | Skip chlorine bleach and fabric softener. If a shirt needs brightening, use an oxygen-based cleaner and check the care label first. | Softener leaves a film on the print that traps dirt, and bleach will fade the colours and eat into stitching over time. |
| 3 · Dry low or air dry | Air dry flat or on a hanger. If you have to use a dryer, use low heat for a short cycle and take it out while slightly damp. | High tumble heat is the single biggest cause of shrinking and warped twill numbers. Drying damp and shaping by hand avoids both. |
| 4 · Iron inside out | Iron the shirt inside out on a low setting, or press a cloth over the graphic. Never iron directly onto a number, name or crest. | Direct heat and steam lift the edge of a print and can melt heat-bonded lettering. Inside out puts the heat on the fabric, not the graphic. |
| 5 · Store it properly | Fold or hang in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Do not leave a shirt in a car or an attic over a season. | Sunlight fades colours unevenly and heat in a parked car or loft will yellow the fabric. A dark, dry storage spot is the whole job. |

Common questions
How many national championships has Notre Dame won?
The programme claims thirteen, most recently for the 1988 season.
Why does Notre Dame not belong to a conference?
It has remained an independent in football for most of its history, which is unusual among major programmes. That independence is a large part of how the brand's following developed nationally rather than regionally.
How did the 2025 season go?
A 10-2 record and tenth place in the final AP poll, but a place outside the 12-team playoff field.
How many Notre Dame items do you list?
150 at the last check, broken down by edition in the table above.
Why is the Notre Dame range narrower than other programmes?
Because the current listings are narrower — the edition table is counted from live stock, not from a template. Youth and college-edition adult pieces account for nearly all of it.
Is navy always the base colour?
Navy and gold are the programme's fixed pairing, with white used for alternate looks. What changes between editions is trim placement and the exact gold tone, so the product image is the best guide.
